Paris Fashion Week SS27: Vol. 2

Following the emotional farewells and controversial archival reinterpretations, Paris Fashion Week continued with collections that gave designers more room to experiment. Surrealism, sportswear, exaggerated proportions, and attempts to rethink the classic wardrobe shaped the second part of our review.

Schiaparelli

Daniel Roseberry built his collection around the contrast between structure and softness. Leather and linen ruffles referenced the curtains of Elsa Schiaparelli's historic atelier, while vibrant colors and vegetable-inspired embroidery recalled her love of playfulness. Particular attention went to the so-called revenge dresses, inspired by the classic black cocktail dress. These looks captured the tension between femininity and inner strength that has become so characteristic of Schiaparelli.

Loewe

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez continue to experiment with unconventional shapes, gradually making their designs more cohesive. Square skirts, wrapped dresses, pinched jackets, and exaggerated high-waisted trousers preserve the playful spirit of Loewe's Jonathan Anderson era.

The collection felt optimistic, fresh, and visually engaging. It's a shame that such strong work from the brand still doesn't receive the attention it deserves.

Miu Miu

Miuccia Prada reinterpreted tennis aesthetics through Miu Miu's signature combination of eccentricity and retro influences. Sportswear elements, unusual accessories, and vintage-inspired silhouettes came together naturally on an improvised tennis court.

The collection successfully balanced ironic styling with pieces people would genuinely want to wear. Only the final dresses felt somewhat disconnected from the overall concept.

Chanel

Matthieu Blazy continues to rejuvenate Chanel without abandoning its traditional clientele. Tailored suits and classic silhouettes appeared alongside colorful ensembles, miniskirts, voluminous dresses, and statement accessories.

However, the more conservative side of the wardrobe, particularly tweed dresses, remains one of the designer's weaker areas. Even so, the new Chanel feels fresh and visually exciting, with enthusiasm for its evolving aesthetic continuing to grow.

Paris Fashion Week left behind plenty of beautiful clothes, but not all of them were particularly memorable. Designers today have almost unlimited access to archives, technology, and production resources, yet none of these guarantees a collection with personality. The most convincing shows this season came from those willing to take risks, make mistakes, and offer a genuinely individual perspective. After all, fashion that tries to please everyone rarely inspires any real emotion.
