If there is one skirt that can be called the fashion hit of summer 2026, it is the white midi with an oversized portrait print from Versace’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection.
It has already been spotted on Alexa Chung, Dua Lipa, Camille Charrière and other fashion insiders, turning it into one of the season’s most recognisable pieces.
What makes it even more interesting is that the skirt comes from Dario Vitale’s first and only ready-to-wear collection for Versace. Vitale took over after Donatella Versace, presented his debut SS26 collection in September 2025, and left the house only a few months later.
The skirt itself captures much of what Vitale was trying to do with Versace. Instead of relying entirely on the house’s familiar high-glamour codes, he looked back to the visual language of the late 1980s and 1990s and mixed it with pieces that could easily exist in an everyday wardrobe.
The graphic black-and-white portrait with vivid blue eye makeup makes an otherwise simple midi silhouette instantly recognisable.
That is also why it works in so many different looks. It has been worn with T-shirts, cardigans, track jackets, leather outerwear and simple heels. The skirt already does enough visually, so everything around it can stay relatively understated.
And that contrast may be exactly why it became so popular. One of the most talked-about Versace pieces of the summer is not an evening gown or an elaborate runway look, but a straightforward midi skirt with a giant face printed across it.
